交流活动

美国加州圣地亚哥湖滨教育局学校师生到盐外进行交流活动

On the morning of 20th, April, 2017, 20 teachers and students from School of Education in Lake District, San Diego, California came to Yantian Foreign Language School and were warmly welcomed. Our school carefully arranged a series of activities to make them closely contact with Chinese basic education, especially the implementation of quality education in our school, leaving a deep impression on them. When they left, they spoke highly of our school. One of the teachers said to the principal Mrs. Xie, “This school is the best!”

 

           

     

 

The American teachers and students came to the playground accompanied by administrative staff of our school at 9:40. And then our school held the welcome ceremony for them. On the ceremony, they felt the warm welcome from our school.

 

          

         

        

 

After that, some American teachers and students experienced a special art class and accepted the influence of traditional Chinese culture. Qu Yongjun, a teacher of our school, briefly introduced Chinese ink painting and made a painting demonstration. Then under his guidance, the American

teachers and students began to learn to paint the lotus. At first, they failed, but a relatively satisfactory work appeared after several attempts. They exclaimed how profound China's ink painting is. After class, they got calligraphy works from Mr.Qu and his students as gifts. Everyone said this was a fruitful experience.

        

       

       

      


 

   At the same time, some other American teachers and students had a very vivid soft pottery class. In class, American and Chinese students learnt about and appreciated soft pottery works and watched soft pottery animation together. Students in our school taught the American students how to make soft pottery works, and during the process, they communicated with each other and enhanced friendship. After class, the American students would like to take photos with students in our school. And all of them said they liked activities like this and hoped there would be more communication opportunities.

Then the American students came to the music classroom at 10 a.m. And the school chorus sang 2 songs and taught the American students “Jasmine”one to one. Furthermore, they also played some games. And during the games, American and Chinese students performed their favorite shows. Everyone enhanced friendship with the song. Students from the school chorus also gave jasmine to the American students as gifts. They all felt very happy with the activity.

 

 


   Michael, a foreign teacher in our school, hosted the activity of the Model United Nations Club. He was very humorous and quickly blended in the American guests. At first, he guided the students to introduce themselves and make them get to know each other to eliminate their tensions for the first meeting. The most exciting part is the game “Chain Story. All students were divided into 4 groups and made up lots of interesting stories with their imagination. After that, all students hoped there would be more communication opportunities.

In the creative writing class, Julie Ann Sanchez, an American teacher, gave full play to students' senses to make them participate in the class by means of music, painting and other forms. Under the guidance of the teacher, the students listened to music at first, then painted on the paper according to their imagination and finally wrote their ideas. The whole process was very smooth and interesting. The students really experienced the joy of writing in the class, and they were not only joining the class but also enjoying it.

 

At noon, the American students had dinner with students in our school at Dameisha. They had a delicious barbecue and chatted with the blowing of the summer wet sea wind under the shade of trees. After lunch, an intense international billiards competition between Chinese and American students was held, attracting a burst of waves.


 

At 3 p.m., Chen Xiaoxiang, Deputy Director of Students’ Affairs Office and Teacher in charge of Science and Environmental Protection Club, led the American teachers and students, and students in the club to launch "natural exploration" activities in the wetland at the school gate. At first, students felt irritated with the hot weather; but with Mr.Chen’s  patient explanation and surprising natural discoveries, the students’ faces showed a bright smile. In the wetland, they discovered the city flower of Shenzhen- Rhododendron, Chinese rose- Hibiscus flower and some other flowers, which made everyone excited. Through the natural exploration in the wetland, the American teachers and students not only knew about the rich biodiversity of our school, experienced the characteristic environmental education of the international ecological school, but also made friends with students of the club, which was full of harvest.


One of the drama tours, a part of the activity “Drama into the School” in Yantian District, began at 3:15 p.m. in the auditorium of our school. The 20 American teachers and students participated in the activity.

The activity included colorful and wonderful programs. The first is Hebei opera play such as Havoc in Heaven and Water Curtain Cave. The performers demonstrated the feature of Chinese dramas, and especially some Kongfu performance had reached a very high level, winning a burst of warm applause from audience.

Meanwhile, it could be seen that the wonderful performance was the result of hard practice for years. We should learn from them.

And then performers demonstrated pure and wonderful Peking Operas such as Shajiabang and Zhidou, deeply attracting the audience. At last, the performing teacher invited 2 American students to the stage and taught them to sing operas. And everyone experienced the profoundness of Chinese culture in the activity.


 


   Then there were Henan Opera “Huamulan” and Sichuan Opera “Change”. With the instant change of performers’ facial makeup, there were instant applause from the audience on the scene.

 

 

   After this, students of the Painting Club went to the stage to demonstrate their works of facial makeup and gave them to the American students as mementos.

   

   At last, Cantonese Opera “Zhao Jun Going Abroad” was also welcomed by both Chinese and American teachers and students. The American teachers and students spoke highly of the drama activity and instantly praised, “Wonderful!” “Wonderful!”  

The activity of the day would be over. The American teachers and students reluctantly said goodbye to teachers and students in our school. One of the American teachers said to the principal Mrs. Xie, “This school is the best!”

一是注重孩子们的心智、体能健康,爱国、爱家、爱人。学校会用各种方式吸引双亲同时参与到活动中来,从而让孩子们的心智能够健康成长。学校的一个特色是鼓励家长、孩子一起参与学校晨跑、跳舞、游戏等活动,不但锻炼了孩子的体魄,也让孩子享受到一天的美好开始。孩子们能快乐健康地生活、学习,学会群体生活、和睦相处。

    At first, they pay much attention to students’ mental and physical health and love for motherland, hometown and other people. The school will use lots of ways to attract students’ parents to take part in activities to make students’ mind grow healthily. One of the characteristics of the school is to encourage parents and students join in activities together such as morning running and dancing, which not only builds students’ bodies but also make them enjoy the good start of a day. And students can happily and healthily live and study, and learn to get along well with others.

二是教学方式强调师生间的互动性。学校坚持正确培养孩子们文化的敏感性及多元文化的视角,教学手段包括了倡导式学习(Proposing Learning),开明式教育(Progressive Education),发现法(Discovery method),批判式教学法(Critical Pedagogy)等,鼓励学生多动脑思维,多做试验,提出问题,挑战思想,且学以致用。一方面给与孩子充分的行动自由与思想自由,另一方面正确启发孩子对事物的认知,对真理的认知和分辨是非、善恶的能力,从而培养正确的人生观、价值观。在学校里,学习并不是简单的知识灌输,而是基于师生间积极的互动和沟通,理论联系实际,这边是成功教学的钥匙。

Secondly, the teaching method stresses the interaction between teachers and students. The school sticks to train students’ cultural sensitivity and multi-cultural perspective through the following teaching methods: Proposing Learning, Progressive Education, Discovery method, Critical Pedagogy and so on, in order to encourage students to use more brain, do more experiments, ask more questions and apply what they learn. This can not only give students enough freedom of action and thought, but also enlighten their awareness of things and truth, and ability of distinguishing between right and wrong to train their right views of life and value. Study at school is not simple knowledge infusion but active interaction and communication between teachers and students. Combining theory with practice is the key to successful teaching.
    
三是重视教学过程。在授课过程中重视对学生的训练,让学生去自主做,去体验,通过实践来获得知识,发展自己,主动探索。教育的意义使其让学生具备到社会工作的能力,数学方面不是强调做题的理论,而是强调怎么用;英语方面强调运用,在教学中,教师把将来在社会生活中遇到的问题带到课堂钟来,帮助学生提前解决,将能力的社会应用性贯穿于课堂中来。

Thirdly, they stress the teaching process. They stress to train students to experience and practice by themselves in order to make students develop themselves. The meaning of education is to make students have working ability for the society. In the teaching, the teacher brings problems that can happen to students in the future into the class to help students solve ahead of time, and penetrates the social application of abilities through the class.   

四是注重孩子们独立自主能力的培养并鼓励积极参与课外活动。学校每个班级都有许多丰富的课内外学习资源,各种图书、植花、植树工具,全都由学校统一提供。课堂教学不仅传授孩子们各种基本知识、也注重他们空间、艺术思维能力的培养,参与丰富多样的课后兴趣班。学校的课后兴趣班也会应邀参与到城市大型的文艺表演、球赛开幕式或中场休息的表演中,活动并不求表演完美,只求孩子们能快乐参与。

At last, they tend to train students’ independent ability and encourage students to take active part in after-school activities. Every classroom in the school are full of rich study resources including books and planting tools. The teaching not only gives students knowledge, but also trains their abilities of space and art thought. Meanwhile, students also take part in the colorful after-school classes and some art shows.
